Whiting Way is a beautiful custom-built home that boasts a contemporary take on traditional elements. The white Hardie boards are framed by contrasting black trim, giving the house a bold but elegant look. 

 

Whiting Way was constructed using ICF (insulated concrete form), making this beautiful custom home very eco-friendly in terms of heating or cooling. The exterior form is 2-1/2 inches of foam, 8 inches of concrete, and another 2-1/2 inches of foam. This makes keeping the inside temperature very comfortable and affordable no matter what is happening outside, and it also makes the house very soundproof. The roof is a traditional wood truss system with added blow-in insulation to help maintain the house's efficiency.

 

The clients faced a few challenges on this project. The interest rates changed quite dramatically in 2022, which resulted in some compromises from their original vision. We helped suggest budget-friendly solutions to some of their high-ticket items, including switching to Hardie from stucco. This project was also unique because the clients wanted to finish the home's interior themselves. We worked with them to take the project to drywall and cabinet installation. Our flexibility allowed them to do the parts of the job they felt comfortable managing on their own.
